About the Healthy Bones and Fall Prevention event.
Elaine Henson, NP, adult nurse practitioner at SharpCare Grossmont, will present the “Healthy Bones and Fall Prevention” program as part of the Dr. William C. Herrick Community Library’s “Wellness Wednesday” series. Elaine will review the importance of bone health, discuss the maintenance of good bone health and describe steps to prevent a fall. Handouts will be available.
Kathy Quinn, Herrick Library director, said, “More than 40 million people nationwide either have osteoporosis or are at increased risk for broken bones because of low bone mineral density. More than one in four people over the age of 65 fall each year. Strong bones are important for your health. Bone is a living tissue and is continually broken down and replaced. Low bone mass increases the risk of fracture in a fall. Join us to learn how to improve your bone health and how to prevent falls.”
